March 2009 IECA E-Update

Monday, March 23rd, 2009

Some people may still think that erosion control is not on the top ten list of concerns regarding their construction project, but soil erosion is a big deal on any construction site!

Erosion changes the physical land that we build on! Construction companies disturb the soil and remove plants and trees that hold the soils in place.  Once that happens the wind and rain remove the sediment.

These actions have a ripple effect on what we have constructed and the natural environment that was once there.  They can cause a structure to fail or an entire species of plant or animal to die off.

The good news is we can take small steps to ensure this doesn’t happen!  The international Erosion Control Association (IECA) has put a lot of time and effort collecting facts, data, and expert opinion to keep those in the industry familiar with the latest and greatest in Erosion Control.
